Oil firm donates solar-powered water project to Bayelsa community

A Yenagoa Bayelsa-based indigenous oil firm, First Exploration and Petroleum Development Company Limited (First E & P), has donated a solar-powered water project to Koluama 1 community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state.

The project which was completed by the company’
s contractor was handed over to the community on Thursday.

The community, however, expressed gratitude to the company for providing clean water for them.

Meantime, the project is expected to provide the people and their environment with potable water to reduce cases of water-borne diseases.

Speaking at the event, Mr Gerald Amakiri who represented First E and P, narrated that the solar water project was a pilot test, adding that it would be replicated in all the host communities.
