A group, under the auspices of Abia Youths for Good Governance, has said the accusation against Abia state governor, Dr Alex Chioma Otti, of using Abia funds to sponsor Mr Peter Obi’s presidential litigation is false and malicious.

Abia Youths for Good Governance made this defence, Monday, in Umuahia during a press conference, noting that there is no iota of truth in the accusation.

The group said they watched with dismay a senseless charade in the name of press conference carried out by a group of strange elements masquerading as “Abia Youths Interest Group” in Abuja three days ago during which they alleged that the Abia state governor, Dr Alex Otti, was using Abia funds to sponsor Mr Peter’s presidential litigation.

They further noted, “Though they understood that this group, Abia Youths Interest Group, is made up of some jobless and frustrated youths who are victims of bad leadership, we are however appalled that they chose to allow themselves to be used to advance a vicious and dubious agenda geared towards the destabilisation of Abia state in pursuit of filthy lucre.”

According to the President of Abia Youths for Good Governance, Hon Chinenye Ukaegbu, who read the communique on behalf of the group, “We consider this group and their sponsors as unreasonable and inconsequential, whose infantile primitive political strategy should not be dignified with a response.”

The group said they were therefore constrained to speak and disabuse the minds of unsuspecting members of the public by stating that Abia state was looted and plunged into bankruptcy by the previous PDP government.

The group stated that Governor Otti, a knowledgeable economist and notable financial manager could not have attempted to use the scarce Abia resources to fund a presidential election litigation, when their parents were beginning to smile again as a result of his intervention to clear salary and pension arrears.

He stated that the sponsors of the press conference were the same elements who sponsored a false story a few months ago alleging that Governor Otti did not put President Tinubu’s portrait in Government House and he said that he did not recognize the President.

The Abia Youths for Good Governance said churning out such despicable and libellous publications, is an infantile calculation to incite the presidency and the president against the governor.

They stressed that those they wanted to incite were smarter, more knowledgeable and have better access to information, and thus would not be deceived.
