The Ogbe-Ijoh Grassroots Liberation has expressed serious concern over what they described as injustice in the community while canvassing for the dividends of democracy and the importance of grassroots movement.

Speaking in an interview, during an end-of-year party of the group in the Ogbe-Ijoh community, its chairman said the event was put up to enlighten the community on democracy dividends, grassroots movement, hard drugs and teenage pregnancy.

The group’s President further appealed to Mr President, His Excellency Armed Bola Tinubu, Niger Delta governor and our governor of Delta state RT Hon Sheriff Oborevwori to take everybody along, take us to the promised land so that everybody will have his or her sense of belonging so that development will come to the grassroots level

The statement reads, “I am the national president of the Niger Delta Youth Council, also the president of Independence Grassroot Liberators (IGL). We are here to liberate the grassroots, our town, our kingdom, LGA and his environs. To eradicate oppression, to correct things that are not right, to take youths forward because the Niger Delta struggle is a struggle that has been in place and IGL is here to collaborate with the struggle so we can have a lasting solution to all the problems in our environs.

“We mapped out today, Dec 22, 2023, to sensitise all the young ones and our generation unborn to work in the right part, to follow the struggle because the struggle has been in place. So many heroes have been there before our time and we’re here to continue to do our best to make the born and the unborn child.

“My appeal to the youths is to come together, be in unity speak one voice and leave every form of incrimination, to leave every form of corruption so that we can carry ourselves along, so that everybody will have the sense of belonging to make our society great.

“I also appeal to the federal government led by His Excellency Armed Bola Tinubu, Niger Delta governors and our governor of Delta state RT Hon Sheriff Oborevwori to carry everybody along, take us to the promised land so that everybody will have his or her sense of belonging as to attract development to the grassroots level”.

Speaking in the same vein, Amb (Eng) Okosu Smart, the national president of IGL, said the event is to gather the grassroots and celebrate with them, celebrate God for saving our lives to see this festive period and encouraging our youths to control themselves from taking hard drugs.

“We established this organization to benefit our people by doing good things in the land, we have built the statutes of our founder, Ewin and his wife.
And I also advise the youths, they should desist from taking hard drugs because these drugs make them abnormal all the times we see them.

“We plan to always encourage the grassroots and take their needs to the government, we need the support of the government because we can’t achieve our aims without the support of the government, anything we are doing, the people in the government must be aware, we contribute money to get everything we need. Every sensitization program we are doing we spend money, and we appeal to our leaders in positions from federal to local government level to please assist IGL in achieving their aims.”
