Fresh tension brewed as an Ijaw resident farmer simply identified as Toyo from Igbobini community, Apoi Kingdom, Ese-Odo local government area of Ondo State

was killed by youth from neighbouring community over a piece of land.

Congress learnt that Toyo was ambushed and butchered to death while working on his farm on Thursday June 6, 2024.

The incident had been linked to a lingering land dispute between Igbobini, and Ode-Irele, a Yoruba speaking community in Edo State.

While condemning the incident, a youth leader in Apoi, Comrade Ebi Joshua Oluwolayemo narrated that the victim was attacked alongside others while they were working on the farm.

He further narrated, “He left for the farm Thursday with some dependents and labourers and they were attacked. While others escaped, he was unlucky.

“When the cry got to the town, people mobilised, went in for a search but couldn’t find him until Friday.

“His lifeless body was found dumped in a shallow pit,” he narrated.

However, effort to reach the police for comment was unfruitful following an unhealthy network at the time of filing this report.
