Pandemonium in PDP as 4 other governors threaten to defect over Wike

All is not well with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as four more governors have threatened to dump Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate if the party’s chairman was removed.

It was reported that the governors had threatened to withdraw from Atiku’s presidential bid if he agreed to Wike’s demand that Iyorchia Ayu is removed from his current position as PDP national chairman.

Recall, Wike’s camp had insisted that before they would support Atiku’s presidential campaign, Ayu should step down.

However, Wike and his allies had contended that it was improper for the party’s presidential candidate (Atiku) and national chairman (Ayu) to hail from the same geopolitical zone in the country—the north.

Sources who spoke with newsmen on the condition of anonymity said Atiku was already debating caving into Wike’s request.

The statement reads, “However if Wike gets his way over Ayu’s departure, at least four PDP governors have now also threatened to break away from him.

The four PDP governors Governors include Mr. Godwin Obaseki (Edo state)Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa state) Duoye Diri (Bayelsa state) Darius Ishaku (Taraba state) and they are being supported by several prominent party leaders.

While Wike’s camp is made up of Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Okezie Ikpeazu, Samuel Ortom, and Seyi Makinde.
