Panic as Warri North APGA Assembly candidate, Abulu cries out over threat to life

Pandemonium in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State as the APGA Delta State House of Assembly candidate, Comrade Abulu Graham has cried out over alleged attempts by suspected Itsekiri stakeholders to exterminate him for contesting for a position which was viewed as their birthright.

It was learnt that Comrade Abulu Graham hailed from Polobubo, an Ijaw community in the Warri North LGA and he is currently contesting for Delta State House of Assembly under APGA.

According to him, some highly placed Itsekiri leaders were saying that Ijaws do not have a right to contest elections in the LGA, adding that every elective and appointive position of the LGA was an exclusive right of the Itsekiri people, except they decided to relegate.

The statement alleged that the Itsekiri regency was also against the Ijaw contesting for the State Assembly position of Warri North.

The source said there was a potential threat from militant leaders in Ijaw to strike if any harm is done to their son Graham Abulu.

Concerned Ijaw leaders in the LGA had called on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and Commissioner of Police Delta State, the Army and Navy command in the state to prevail on the Itsekiri people to avert another crisis in the area.

However, an effort to get a comment from the Warri North Local Government Council Chairman, Mr Smart Asekutu proved abortive as he could not take his calls at the time of filing this report.
