PAP: Conduct Camp Verification to Sanitise Amnesty Programme -Ogidigba Writes Dr Otuaro
By Joseph Bienbo, Warri
The leadership of the Amnesty Delegates Forum has appealed to the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, High Chief Dennis Otuaro, PhD, to urgently carry out a comprehensive camp verification exercise for beneficiaries in Phases 1, 2, and 3.
In a statement signed by Gen. Godstime Ogidigba, the Forum said the exercise is critical to the ongoing reforms aimed at sanitizing the programme.
Quoting an adage, the Forum stated: “When a farm owner is too slow to catch a thief, the thief will eventually accuse the owner of being the thief.”
According to Ogidigba, Chief Otuaro’s refusal to continue with the old order in PAP has destabilized entrenched corruption and exposed those who allegedly benefited from irregularities over the years.
The Forum commended the Administrator for the reforms already recorded under his leadership and urged him to consolidate on them by immediately conducting the camp verification across all phases.
The Forum noted that such verification will correct past errors, identify genuine beneficiaries, weed out fraud, and restore integrity to the Presidential Amnesty Programme.
It also appealed to genuine ex-agitator leaders and beneficiaries to remain patient and continue to support the Otuaro-led administration in its drive to fully sanitize the programme.
