PDP calls for disqualification of Uzodinma in Imo
By Hannah Nathan, Warri
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says that its candidate, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, is not only poised for victory but is not deterred ahead of Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Imo State.
It claimed that this was the case despite a malicious fake video that Governor Hope Uzodinma and the All Progressives Congress (APC) were said to have created and distributed against him.
The party called for Uzodinma’s disqualification by the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC.
The APC candidate, Uzodinma, allegedly sponsored a phoney video against the Party’s nominee in an attempt to deceive the Imo people. The Party called this behaviour barbaric and shameful.
The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, made this announcement in a statement on Friday.
The PDP claimed that the fabricated video proved Uzodinma’s intense fear of the PDP candidate’s popularity and that he was forced to use devious tactics at the last minute in an unsuccessful attempt to push him aside.
The statement went on to say that Uzodinma had proven he wasn’t prepared to run in a transparent, free, peaceful, and fair election.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) claims that, despite the malicious fake video purportedly created and shared by Governor Hope Uzodinma and others, its candidate for Imo State’s governorship on Saturday, November 11, 2023, Senator Samuel Anyanwu is not deterred and is expected to win.
“The PDP describes it as barbaric and shameful that the APC candidate, Governor Hope Uzodinma could descend so low to allegedly sponsor a fake video against the PDP candidate in a bid to mislead the people of Imo State.
“The fake video, typical of ‘419’ inclination, only goes to confirm that Governor Uzodinma is in mortal fear of the popularity of the PDP candidate, Senator Anyanwu and had to resort to last-minute underhand method in a failed attempt to get Senator Anyanwu out of the way.
“The PDP restates that our candidate, Senator Anyanwu, is very much in the governorship race. The people of Imo should disregard the said video, as it is completely FALSE.
“If there is anybody that should withdraw from the race, it is Governor Uzodinma, who has amply demonstrated that he is not ready to contest in a peaceful, free, fair and transparent election.
“The PDP calls on INEC to disqualify the APC and Governor Uzodimma as their reported involvement in producing and circulating the fake video constitutes a gross violation of the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022, the Nigerian Criminal Code and Cyber Crime Law.” PDP calls for Gov. Uzodinma to be removed from office.
