Petroleum Minister, Timipre Silva Tenders Resignation ahead of Bayelsa Gubernatorial Primaries

The air has been cleared of all assumptions regarding the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva gubernatorial ambition, when the Presidency confirmed his resignation yesterday via a special assistant to the President.

The Special Assistant to the President on Digital Communications, Bashir Ahmad, disclosed this via his verified Twitter handle. He said Sylva resigned to pursue his governorship ambition.

“Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and former Bayelsa State Governor, Timipre Sylva, has resigned his appointment to contest in the next Bayelsa governorship election,” Ahmad tweeted.

Timipre Silva who had served one term as former Governor of Bayelsa State, made remarks a couple of weeks at an event in Bayelsa that no one should estimate him higher than the office of the Governor because it is an opportunity to serve and no public office should be classified as too insignificant to serve.
