Police Anti-Cult officers attached to the Obiaruku Police Division in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State have accused of chasing a 17-year-old boy, simply identified as Sylvester Watermelon, to death.
The report alleged that the deceased and his friend were chased on Wednesday when they were coming out from a chemist shop to buy drugs.
The source alleged that the deceased and his friend sighted the anti-cult operatives and immediately drove away on a motorcycle but they were given a hot chase until they rammed into a wall where Sylvester gave up the ghost.
It was learnt that the anti-cult operatives rushed the victims to the station where the said friend regained consciousness. But Sylvester Watermelon died.
According to the statement, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass, had reportedly ordered the immediate arrest of the anti-cult operatives.
However, the Delta State command’s spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe, could not response to calls put across to him at press time.
