The Delta State Police Command, force headquarters, Asaba, has reportedly apprehended four suspected kidnappers who masterminded the abduction of one Hon. Princess Divine Unuavworho, a delegate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Sapele Community in the just concluded primary elections of the party.

Congress gathered that the suspects were apprehended following a petition by the victim, written to the Commissioner of Police Delta State and the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 5, authored by Ogedegbe & Ogedegbe Chambers.

The petition which was obtained by Congress newspaper titled: “A CASE OF HOSTAGE TAKING OF HON. PRINCESS DIVINE UNUAVWORHO BY CHRISTABEL BIUWEN AND HER ARMED THUGS BY THE VENUE OF THE PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY’S SENATORIAL ELECTION HELD ON THE 23RD OF MAY, 2022. A DEMAND FOR THE ARREST OF CHRISTABEL AND HER COHORTS TO FACE JUSTICE FOR HOSTAGE TAKING AND VOTE BUYING” said: “The accused persons abducted their victim and took Four Million and Two hundred Thousand naira from the said Princess Unuavworho in Sapele Community in some time May 2022.

The petition reads, “We are solicitors to Hon. Princess Divine Unuavworho who shall hereinafter be referred to as our client on whose firm instructions and behalf we hereby write and deliver this petition to you.
It is our instruction that our client was an ad-hoc delegate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) whose votes alongside other of the delegates determine who emerges the flag-bearer of the party.

“That by the above, several persons aspiring for the position of House of Assembly, House of Representatives, House of Senate and governor made an unsolicited visit on our client. That prominent amongst the political visitors was the said Engr. Cristabel Ebiuwen.
That the said Engr. Christabel Ebiuwen like our client fellowships at the Mega Praise Church of Christ but are not in talking terms, only for our client to have received a phone call from her sometime in May 2022 requesting to see her over her status as a delegate of the PDP.”

The petition further stated: “That upon receiving the said phone call from Engr. Christabel, our client was quick to inform her of the fact they are both of the same fellowship only for her to have told our client she regretted calling our client as if she had known she would not have to bother calling her.

“That several days later she called our client pleading with her to forgive her over her rude utterances and pleaded with our client to embrace her friendship and at the point of her departure gave an envelope to our client which was later discovered to be the total sum of one million naira (N1,000,000.00) only.

“Sadly, though by no fault of our client, said Engr. Christabel lost out in the primary election held by the party on the 22nd of May, 2022 and started making trouble with our client right from the venue of the election upon the declaration of the winner.

“Our instruction is to the effect our client never gave her any assurance of voting for her during the election neither was the envelope of harmonization of friendship to secure our client’s vote which it turns out to be eventually.

“That the very next day was the PDP primary election day for the house of Senate election slated to hold at the Atlantic Hall, Sapele, Delta State. On the said day, while our client was set for the accreditation exercise, she was apprehended by five heavily built-up men armed with sophisticated rifles who took her to an unknown location and was made to speak with the said Engr. Christabel informed her about her decision to kill her and that nothing will happen should she fail to return the money given to her and demanded the money must be refunded times two.

“That our client was held hostage from the hours of 10 am till 2 pm before she was moved to Warri and after much persuasion by our client but to no avail, our client was left with no choice than to proceed to the school of her about 15years old son who with our client instruction proceeded to the house and removed every cash in the house amounting to four million two hundred thousand naira only.

“That the above sum of money was brought to the designated venue by her son in his school bag before she was released and could not return to Sapele for the senatorial primary election.

“Again, the said Engr. Christabel with her thugs attacked our client in Asaba claiming she was going against the governor’s instruction of voting whereas our client never had any discussion with her as to who to be voted for during the governorship primary election.”

The Delta State Police Command’s spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe, when contacted said he is yet to be informed about such arrests, adding that he will revert once being briefed with details.
