Police arrest man for killing wife in Warri

The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a yet-to-be-identified middle-aged man for allegedly stabbing his wife to death in Warri on Thursday.

Congress learnt that the incident which occurred on Thursday evening caused pandemonium in the oil city of Warri.

A source said the fight broke out over an argument about cooking gas in the home. The deceased wife insisted that the husband should not use the gas since he refused to give them money for upkeep.

The source added that the husband who worked in the slaughter refused to heed the wife’s warning but went ahead to use the gas to warm water for bathing after retiring to the house from the slaughter.

Angered by the husband’s action, the deceased wife allegedly took a knife in an attempt to stab him, unfortunately, the husband overpowered her and seized the knife and stabbed her severally to a point of death.

According to the report, the husband rushed her to a nearby hospital after observing that she could give up the ghost.

However, the husband when questioned about how his wife got injured, lied to the hospital management that she got injured in a ghastly auto crash.

But the daughter of the deceased wife who saw an attempt of a cover-up by her stepfather reported the incident at the nearest police station and he was immediately arrested.

Consequently, the Delta State Police PPRO, DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the ugly incident and the arrest of the suspects to newsmen on Friday.
