Police Arrest Suspects with Firearm During Stop-and-Search Operation

Security operatives have arrested a group of suspects found in possession of a firearm during a routine stop-and-search operation, thwarting what authorities believe may have been preparations for cult-related activities.

According to preliminary investigations, the principal suspect, identified as “DEgreat,” was allegedly found with a gun reportedly purchased in Onitsha for the sum of ₦350,000. Investigators disclosed that the suspect was allegedly making arrangements to undergo initiation into the Vikings Confraternity before his arrest.

The suspect, who is said to be 19 years old, is reportedly a student of Criminology and Security Studies. His arrest has raised concerns over the involvement of young people and students in cultism and other criminal activities.

Police authorities stated that the firearm was recovered during the operation and has been taken into custody as evidence. The suspects are currently undergoing further interrogation as investigators work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the acquisition of the weapon and any possible links to cult-related activities.

Law enforcement officials reiterated their commitment to tackling cultism, illegal possession of firearms, and other criminal activities, urging members of the public to continue providing useful information that can aid security agencies in preventing crime and maintaining public safety.

The police noted that investigations are ongoing and that any individuals found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
