Police Command Begins Mental Tests for officers.
By Micheal Chukwuebuka
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced the commencement of health evaluation to assess officers’ mental health and stress levels.
The Commissioner of Police for the FCT, Ahmed Sanusi, has assured officers that the ongoing mental health and medical assessment exercise is strictly confidential and not intended to punish, stigmatise, or embarrass any personnel.
“We are conducting medical evaluations covering the overall health status of officers and also assessing their mental condition and stress levels so medical experts can advise appropriately,” he said.
He added that the exercise would not be a one-off activity but a continuous programme under his leadership, with regular screenings planned for all personnel.
“At least under my watch, officers will be routinely checked. We are not doing this just once. After each round, we will take a break and continue again because health issues can arise at any time,” he said.
