Police kill 2 suspected armed robbers, nab 7, recover 7 guns in Delta

The Operatives of the Dragon Patrol team Delta State Police Command have killed two suspected armed robbers in a fierce gunfight, nabbed seven, and recovered seven locally made guns and cartridges in various locations in the state.

According to the statement by DSP Bright Edafe, the command’s spokesman: “23/06/2022 at about 0500hrs, the DPO Ozoro, acting on a distress call, that armed robbers were operating at Etereva Street, Ozoro in Isoko North LGA, mobilized and led a combined team of Police and vigilantes to the scene. On arrival, the hoodlums engaged the team in a shootout, during which one of the armed robbers sustained 0bullet injuries while the others escaped. One cut-to-size single barrel gun, two expended cartridges, and one laptop were recovered. The injured suspect later gave up the ghost while receiving treatment at the hospital. The manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang is ongoing.

“Similarly, on 23/06/2022, at about 00400hrs, acting on a distress call, those armed robbers were operating along Igbuku Road in Orogun Community, the DPO Orogun Division, SP. Obonoh Ndem led a team of Police and vigilantes to the scene and engaged the armed robbers in a gun duel, 0during which two of the suspected armed robbers sustained bullet injuries, while one of the suspects, Benedict Agbawara ‘m’ age 22yrs of Abbi town was arrested. Three {03} locally-made cut-to-size guns, one live cartridge and one motorcycle were recovered. the Injured suspects were taken to the hospital where they later died while receiving 0treatment. The investigation is ongoing.”

The statement further narrated,
“On 24/06/2022 at about 1635hrs, following a tip-off by a lady (Name withheld), that she sighted some armed robbers who robbed her in her POS shop on 29/05/2022, the Operatives of Dragon Patrol team while on stop and search duty acted immediately and arrested the trio of Jeffrey Osemudiamen ‘m’ age 36 of no. 28 Osazuwa Street, Benin City, Eddy Gabriel ‘m’ age 33, and Promise Imade ‘m’ age 31, both of no. 14 Paris Street, Oghara in Ethiope West LGA and recovered the following exhibits from them; one (1) locally made gun, four (4) live cartridges, one (1) walkie – talkie set, four (4) android phones suspected to have been stolen, noting that investigation into their activities is ongoing.

“In another development, on 23/06/2022 at about 2015hrs, Dragon Patrol Team, while on stop and search at Oleh roundabout in Isoko South LGA, intercepted a tricycle with reg no. Ep 290 QL, conveying three {3} passengers namely; Friday Nosakhare ‘m’ age 23, Efe Pius ’m’ age 19, Okwudili Okorie ‘m’ age 30, all of the refinery road Warri. They were subjected to a search which led to the recovery of one locally made cut-to-size gun and two {2} live cartridges concealed under the seat of the tricycle. The investigation is ongoing.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED RITUALIST/MURDER SUSPECT

HARVEST OF CRIMINAL SUSPECTS, AS THE COMMAND ARREST SEVEN SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS, KILL THREE IN A FIERCE GUN DUEL, RECOVERS SIX LOCALLY MADE CUT-TO-SIZE GUNS AND CARTRIDGES

1. ARREST OF SUSPECTED RITUALIST/MURDER SUSPECT: On 25/06/2022, at about 1030 hrs, one Mrs Success Oduwa ‘f’ age 24yrs of Peanuts junction, Obey in Edo State, discovered that she has not seen their child since the morning of 24/6/2022 and started troubling the husband as to the whereabouts of the child. The husband told her that the child is with his sister in Warri. On getting to Warri, she stated that she discovered the husband was lying to her, hence her suspicion. She reported to the Commander, Quick Response Squad, that she is suspecting her husband named, Volt Blessing Gabriel (m) age 33yrs of the same address, to have killed their child named Godspower Gabriel (m) aged one year and eight months for ritual purposes. The Commander RRS detailed operatives who swung into action arrested the husband and handed him over to the DPO ‘A’ Division Warri for further investigation. Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to having murdered the said child at Ewabogun bush by catholic road, Benin city using a hand saw to cut off the head and buried it by a palm tree in the bush and threw away the headless body of the child. The suspect also stated that he killed the child, because of a dream he had, where he saw a man who told him that, if he kills the child, and uses the child’s blood to rub his head, he will become rich. The suspect is in custody.
