Police smash 4-man robbery syndicate in Edo

The Edo State Police Command has busted four -man armed robbery syndicate disguising with military uniform.

The Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, said the suspects attacked and robbed a woman of her money and other valuables in Benin.

He said the suspects were busted by intelligence officers following a report by the victim Grace Ainabe, whose residence was invaded.

The police gave the names of the suspects as Iyabo Victor, 35 (the leader), Osas Aganmwonyi ’28, Nosa Owie, 24, and Idi Etukudo.

Nwabuzor narrated that the suspects who wore military uniforms, and armed with guns, broke into the victim’s house in Teboga community, carting away money, phones and jewelry.

The victim Grace explained that the suspects entered her house through the POP ceiling, robbed the family of their belongings and transferred N447,000.

“They collected her phone and forcefully obtained her secret code number for them to have access to her bank detail,” Nwabuzor added.

According to the police, after the transfer, the suspects changed the money to foreign currency and shared it.

Items recovered from them include Iphone13 worth N500,000, IPhone 6 worth N48,000 and jewelry worth N850,000.

Others include a standing fan worth N95,000, an LG split Air Conditioner worth N360,000, washing machine, inverter battery, accessories, gas cylinders, among others.
