Presidential/NASS Polls: HRM Oweiagbe harps on peaceful elections, warns troublemakers to steer clear

Traditional ruler in Delta State, Nigeria, His Royal Majesty, King Dr. Ekioemi Oweiagbe John, the Pere of Operemor Kingdom in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, has charged Deltans, his subjects and as well as Nigerians to be peaceful and law- abiding during the conduct of the Saturday, 25 February 2023 presidential and national assembly elections in the country.

HRM Oweiagbe gave the admonition at his ancestral home, Ojobo community, the headquarters of the kingdom on Thursday.

The king emphasized that for the elections to be successful, a peaceful atmosphere must exist, adding that such peace would only come when the people agreed to shun violent and decided to remain civil.

He urged subjects to be aware of the fact that election is not a do or die affairs, “while everyone is entitled to exercise their rights to vote the preferred candidates of their choice, they should do so without recourse to intimidating and influencing others.

He however prayed to the Almighty God for a peaceful presidential and national assembly elections across the country come Saturday.

The paramount ruler also advised the people of Operemor Kingdom to desist from acts that are capable of truncating the voting exercise on Saturday.

This came on the heels of the directive of the federal government to deal decisively with any one who may want to truncate the Saturday elections in the country.
