Following the local government Chairmanship elections in Delta State, the people of Isaba Kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area have appealed to the governor of Delta State, Elder Sheriff Oborewori to allow the Isaba Kingdom to produce the next Council chairman of the Warri South West Council.

The protesting Isaba Kingdom during a press conference held in Isaba Community passed a vote of confidence on the governor Sheriff Oborevwori and lauded his tangible and laudable Developmental strides in all parts of the state.

Speaking at the press conference by its Central Chairman, Comrade Edwin Doufa, Mr. Obadiah Wareseimere, Secretary General on 18th May 2024, said: “we wish to draw the attention of the Governor and make a special appeal as a kingdom that believes in the premiums of peaceful dialogue and inclusive Democracy.

Others who spoke at the press conference were: Hon. Waredemebo Denyefa Kelly, Financial Secretary Isaba Kingdom,
Mr Okalab Morris, Hon. Chief Timoko, Nathaniel .W. O, Comr. Ono’s Ebikawei and Mr Godwin Ofoleyou.

The statement reads in part, “The Kingdom of Isaba is deeply pained that we have been marginalized and neglected politically for far too long. We have been long neglected in terms of appointments and key elective Positions since the creation of Warri South-West LGA in 1996.

“Despite our unwavering, loyal and resilient support to the People’s Democratic party (PDP), we have not been given Commissioners, NDDC, Chairmanship, DG’s and members of statutory Boards appointments.

“However, we are calling on the conscience of the Governor to listen to our humble cry and Save Ward 2 in pursuant of the forthcoming Warri South-West Local Government Chairmanship election. Isaba people are seriously appealing to produce the Warri South-West Local Government chairman.

“Meanwhile, we also use this medium to beg our political and traditional leaders to please solicit on our behalf to our listening governor, our Rt. Hon. Senator(Dr) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, Barr. Kingsley Esiso, the State party Chairman to consider an Isaba Son as the Warri South-West local government Council Chairman.

“Warri South-West Local Government Area is made up of the Ijaws in Gbaramatu House and Ogbe-Ijoh and Isaba House and the Itsekiris of Ugborodo and Benin River House.

“Suffice it to say that the level of lopsidedness in the political milieu in the appointments and elective positions in the Council since the inception of the Local Government in 1996 is unbearable and pathetic. We admonish that this should be addressed urgently so that we are not edged out in the scheme of things.
