Protest As Tinubu Appoints Two Ministerial Designates From Delta Central

The people of Delta South have faulted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing two ministerial designates from Delta Central, adding that it was Delta South’s Turn to produce the next federal minister in the state and not Delta Central.

The stakeholders who protested against the development said it would amount to injustice, marginalization and deprivation of Delta South for nominating two ministerial designates from Delta Central.

This is according to a statement signed on behalf of Delta South people by the national president of Ijaw People’s Development Initiative, IPDI, comrade Ozobo Austin of which a copy was sent to newsmen on Tuesday.

The activist said even on the ground that Isoko had produced the Delta South senator, Ijaw and Itsekiri should be allowed to produce the next minister from Delta South.

The public advocate gave details of previous ministerial appointees in the state, Kenneth Gbagi, education minister from Delta Central under Yaradua/Jonathan administration, God’sday Orubebe minister, Delta South under Goodluck Jonathan administration, Ibe Kachukwu from Delta North under Buhari first term, Festus Keyamo from Delta Central, under Buhari second term.

The people of Delta South said the appointment of two ministers, Festus Keyamo and Stella Okotete from Delta Central by Tinubu was against federal character as it is unconstitutional and illogical.

The Delta South people called on the Nigerian Senate to drop the names of the ministerial nominees in Delta Central to avoid a breakdown of law and order.

The leaders said the Youths of Delta South were very angry and tempted to go haywire following the injustice done to them.

While reacting, the angry protesters said that despite the strong support and massive votes Tinubu got from Delta South, he decided to punish them with evil. He added that if not for the intervention of the leaders and stakeholders of Delta South, some youths might go haywire by now.

The angry stakeholders had called on President Buhari to withdraw one of the ministerial nominees from Delta Central and pick someone from Delta South to balance the injustice meted out against Delta South, for peace and equity.
