In a statement today, H.E. DCN. Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, Esq, FSPSP, the immediate past Deputy Governor of Delta State, has issued a powerful call for unity and constructive action. As Nigeria faces significant economic challenges exacerbated by global factors, Otuaro urges citizens to channel their grievances into peaceful dialogue rather than conflict.

Reflecting on past events like the End-SARS protests, Otuaro emphasizes the importance of restraint and non-violence. He appeals to the younger generation to engage in thoughtful negotiation rather than divisive actions.

Dear Compatriots,

In the midst of our shared challenges and aspirations, I reach out to you today with a heartfelt call for unity, understanding, and constructive action. As Nigeria navigates the complex economic difficulties that echo across the globe, it is imperative that our collective response embodies a spirit of solidarity and a steadfast commitment to finding solutions that uplift every segment of our society.

Protests, while an expression of genuine grievances, often involve some level of violence and pose threats to the security of lives and property, as was evident during the End-SARS demonstrations. Thus, as leaders, we earnestly appeal to the younger generation to exercise restraint and embrace peaceful avenues of expression. True victory is not secured through conflict but is crafted through thoughtful negotiation and dialogue. Your voices are instrumental in shaping our nation’s future, but it is crucial to consider the profound power of unity in our current context. Instead of engaging in actions that may exacerbate divisions, let us unite with a common purpose to overcome our economic challenges through constructive collaboration and dialogue.

In the same vein, I extend a profound plea to the government and all those in positions of authority. This is a moment for introspection, for active listening, and for fulfilling the promises made to the Nigerian people. The weight of governance is significant, yet the responsibility to address the needs and aspirations of our citizens is even more pressing. To the Federal Government, We know you are trying your best, but, I urge you to intensify more efforts to alleviate the hardships faced by Nigerians, as the surging cost of living has driven many to the edge of despair.

We must recognise the harsh realities confronting our fellow countrymen and respond with compassion, empathy, and tangible solutions. Together, let us bridge the gaps that divide us, build enduring connections of understanding, and work tirelessly towards a future where every Nigerian has the opportunity to thrive and succeed.

This pivotal moment calls for leadership that is not only responsive and accountable but also deeply committed to serving the people with unwavering dedication. Let us embrace this opportunity to forge unity, advance progress, and create a brighter and more prosperous tomorrow for all Nigerians.
