Rampaging Fulani militants abduct 40 worshipers in church

As the Federal government of Nigeria is trying to curb insecurities in the country, not less than 40 Christian worshippers were again kidnapped by unknown gunmen during a sunday service at Bege Baptist Church, Madala, Buruku Baringi road, Kaduna.

Recall, similar occurrence happened in year 2022 at Owo in Ondo state where unknown gunmen stormed a Catholic church, and killed not less than 50 worshippers and left many injured.

The incident that happened on Sunday 7 May, 2023, at Bege Baptist Church Kaduna had left tongue wagging as unknown gunmen disrupt ongoing service at around 10am and started shooting gun sporadically.

The unexpected incident was confirmed by Rev. John Joseph, the Kaduna State Christian Association (CAN) who maintained that the armed gunmen stormed the church and went away with 40 worshippers.

He stated that 15 out of the kidnapped worshipers escaped and efforts are currently ongoing to connect with the kidnappers so as to get the remaining 25 worshippers back to their relatives.

“The worshippers were in the Sunday service around 9:30am when they heard gunshots very close to the church. The gunmen attacked the church and went away with 40 worshippers, CAN chairman narrated.

“Along the way, somehow, 15 of the kidnapped victims returned, remaining 25 who are currently in captivity without and word from their abductors” he added

However, as at the time of this report, the Kaduna State Police Command and Kaduna State Government were yet to release any official statement on the incident.
