Remains of Slain Brigade Commander 29 Task Force Brigade, Seven Others Laid to Rest

The remains of slain Brigade commander 29 Task force Brigade Benisheikh, Brigadier General Oseni Omoh Braimah and seven other fallen heroes of the Nigerian Armed Forces were laid to rest after paying the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty for the defence of father land.

The burial ceremony, held with full military honours, drew Borno state Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, Minister of Defence, Chief of Defence staff, Chief of Army staff, top government officials, military commanders, families, and sympathisers, all united in mourning and tribute.

Mohammed Goni reports that the Brigade commander, 29 Taskforce Brigade, Lt General Oseni Omoh Braimah alongside seven other soldiers were killed during attacks on Benisheikh and Ngamdu.

Dignitaries, colleagues, family members and sympathisers offered prayers for the repose of their souls as Governor Babagana Umara Zulum and senior government officials joined the Minister of Defence, chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army staff as well as other top Army officers at the emotional laden ceremony.

In his remarks, Governor Zulum described the fallen heroes as gallant patriots who demonstrated uncommon courage and commitment in the fight against insurgency in the Northeast theatre of operations.

He assured the families of the deceased that their sacrifices would never be forgotten, pledging continued support from the state government.

The Minister of Defence, Lt General Christopher Musa, Chief of Defence Staff, Olufemi Oluyede and the Chief of Army Staff Lt. General Waidi Shuaibu all paid tributes to the fallen officers, noting that their bravery and dedication remain a source of inspiration to the Armed Forces and the nation at large.

The ceremony concluded with a 21 military gun salute and the symbolic handing over of the national flags to next of kin, a powerful gesture honouring the lives and service of the fallen heroes.
