The Political Justice For Ogbe-Ijoh People Movement (PJOPM) has thrown its weight behind the House of Representatives candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, in the Warri Federal Constituency, Chief Monday Keme, insisting that it was the turn of Ogbe-Ijoh people to produce the next representative for Warri Federal Constituency.

In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by Comrade Kemes Orou on behalf of the leadership, said Ogbe-Ijoh had suffered political marginalization for several decades despite being a major stakeholder in the constituency.

The group noted that the Itsekiri had severally occupied the seat, while other Ijaw clans in Warri Federal Constituency have also had their fair share, leaving Ogbe-Ijoh as the only bloc yet to produce a representative.

“For equity, justice and fairness, it is time for Ogbe-Ijoh people to be given the opportunity. It is Ogbe-Ijoh’s turn to produce the next House of Representatives member for Warri Federal Constituency,” the group stated.

The group stressed that its agitation is anchored on equity, justice and transparency, and not on sentiment, adding that allowing Ogbe-Ijoh to produce the next Rep would foster unity and balance in Warri politics.

The movement therefore called on all political parties, leaders, and stakeholders in Warri Federal Constituency to support the aspiration of Chief Monday Keme as a symbol of justice for Ogbe-Ijoh people.
