Reps 2027: Warri Group Withdraws Support For Ereyitomi, Citing Poor Representation, Endorses Mulade

The YCOM Movement For Good Governance has withdrawn its earlier support for the member representing Warri Federal Constituency, Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi, citing non-performance and poor representation.

The president of the group, Yerinbowei Felix Company who said he actively campaigned for Ereyitomi during the primaries on grounds of equity and balance in Warri politics, said the political equation has now changed.

“During the primaries, I asked everybody to vote for Rt. Thomas Ereyitomi because of equality and equity. At that time, Warri Southwest had only one House of Assembly slot which was occupied by an Ijaw man, so we needed an Itsekiri man in the House of Reps to balance it,” he said.

He explained that with the creation of two House of Assembly constituencies in Warri Southwest, the equity argument no longer holds.

“Now we have Constituency 1 and Constituency 2 in Warri Southwest. Itsekiri has its own House of Assembly and Ijaw has its own. The House of Reps seat is now open for any tribe to contest, either Ijaw or Itsekiri.”

Speaking from the human angle, he accused the lawmaker of abandoning the people after two terms in office.

“He has been in that seat for two terms but nothing to show, no single project, no single empowerment. Both Itsekiri, Ijaw, Urhobo, he have not done anything.”

“People that campaigned for him during the primaries are complaining that he no longer picks their calls. Up till now ‘na so so face him dey squeeze,” he lamented.

The group said its decision was no longer about party politics but about credible representation.

“This time I will not play party politics, I will play the politics of preferred candidates. We need people that will bring unity, people that will bring development, people that can pick people’s calls.”

The group therefore endorsed Chief Sheriff Mulade as the preferred candidate for Warri Federal Constituency in 2027, adding that he has what it takes to provide good representation for the people of Warri.

“If you talk about good representation, Chief Sheriff Mulade is the best person. He is good to Itsekiri, he is good to Ijaw, he is not tribalistic. We have seen his peace concerts to unite Ijaws and Itsekiris without government money.”

“We have tested Thomas for two terms, he has failed. Nigeria is bleeding, Warri Federal Constituency is bleeding. We need capable and credible hands.”
