Several roads and streets in Warri, Warri South local government area of Delta State have reportedly submerged following the heavy downpour on Saturday afternoon and evening.

According to our correspondents who moved round some parts of the roads and streets in Warri report that some houses, shops, roads and streets were submerged following the heavy rain.

The areas affected were given as: Okere Ogborikoko road, Ogboroke road, Izon quarters, Bendel Estate, Fani-Kayode road, Okere road, Itsekiri, NPA, Edjeba, Macver, and some parts in Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area.

It was gathered that vehicles, tricycles and commuters were stranded in some parts of the affected areas as movement was restricted by the high level of the flood.

When interviewed, a motorist blamed the flooding situation on bad roads and absence of proper drainage systems in Warri and its environs.

He called on political leaders representing Warri and its environs to provide good roads and drainage systems in Warri and Effurun.
