Rights activist Ezekiel thrashes Arewa Youths over attack on Tompolo

Foremost Niger Delta rights activist Comrade Daniel Ezekiel has knocked on the Arewa Youths Assembly, over what he described as concocted attack on the most respected leader of Niger Delta, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, adding the call by the group not to consider Tompolo for pipeline surveillance contract was ill-conceived and should be disregarded.

This was contained in a statement he personally signed and sent to Congress newspaper on Friday morning.

He said the Arewa Youths should be more concerned with the bandits attacks, kidnapping and killing of law-abiding citizens in the Northern Nigeria and not to blindly interlope on Niger Delta issues.

The activist described the attack on Tompolo as an affront on Niger Delta region, adding that Tompolo had devoted his time, energy, influence and resources day and night in making sure peace reign in the country which according to him a key ingredient for development.

The Niger Delta advocate noted: “crisis merchants and agents provocateurs are at it again, just the way they misled president Muhammadu Buhari when he came into power in 2015 into the need to arrest, prosecute and killed the innocent man over several baseless petitions that were borne out of envy and hatred.
This grandiose scheme against Tompolo perfected by his own kinsmen, did not only lead to break down of law and order in the region, Nigeria direly paid for it with recession hitting the nation”.

According to him, “Legendary Fela Anikulapo Kuti in one of his songs said that trouble sleeps yanga go wake am ! Wetin you dey find wahala ! You dey find wahala ! You go get am ooo.
The above song came into my mind when l came across a very cantercorous, inciting and misleading concoction called press conference organized by Arewa youths.

“Their assault on my father, brother and friend, High chief Government Ekpemupolo a.k.a Tompolo is not just uncalled for ,but an affront to Niger Delta region, whom he has been devoting his time ,energy , influence and resources day and night in making sure peace reign in the country which is a key ingredient of development.

“The hulabbaloo of the crisis led to my humble self being detained for close to two years because as an activist, l made it known to the whole world through the media space that Tompolo is not what some mischievous elements painted him to look like before Mr. President and generality of Nigerians .
Is there anybody in Nigeria that is more competent, capable and capacity filled than Tompolo to handle pipeline job in Niger Delta region?. The answer is that nobody come close to him.

“Upon mirage of problems facing the Northern part , is it Tompolo matter that should be of critical concern to Arewa youths ?. I see this press conference as total misplaced of priority , WALAHI!. I want to use this medium to urge my fellow youths in the North to use their energy used in attacking Tompolo to call out their leaders to do the needful in ending blood bath in their domains.

“Finally, l appeal to Mr. President not to listen to these charlatans who are performing what l call voice of Easu, hands of Jacob antics to truncate the peace pervading the length and breath of Niger Delta region courtesy of Tomoplo tireless efforts”, he added.
