Ronaldo sued for $1 billion

Cristiano Ronaldo of Al Nassr is the target of a class-action lawsuit.

The Portugal captain is being sued for at least $1 billion in damages for his promotion of Binance-issued “non-fungible tokens,” or cryptocurrency-related tokens.

On Monday, the case was filed to the Southern District of Florida federal court.

According to the claim, Ronaldo promoted Binance in a “deceptive and unlawful” manner.

The plaintiffs contend that their investments were risky and expensive as a result of Binance’s affiliation with well-known individuals like Ronaldo.

“Evidence now reveals that Binance’s fraud was only able to reach such heights through the offer and sale of unregistered securities, with the willing help and assistance of some of the wealthiest, powerful and recognized organizations and celebrities across the globe — just like Defendant Ronaldo,” the suit reads.
