Soldiers, police allegedly clash in Bayelsa

Soldiers and police operatives in Bayelsa State have allegedly engaged in a deadly clash in Tombia roundabout on Monday evening.

The confrontation reportedly begun between the soldiers and vigilante operatives in Tombia roundabout.

An eyewitness said the military release several shots on air and the police who were attached to the vigilante operatives retaliated by releasing gun shots intermittently.

According the source, many innocent people were severely wounded by stray bullets during the fracas.

The source said some of the injured persons including one Tare (F) rushed to FMC were not treated as doctors insisted for police report.

Though, the cause of the clash is yet to be unveiled at the time of filling this report.

However, efforts to reach the State Police Command spokesman, SP Asinim Butswat for comment proved abortive as he only reverted text sent to him by promising to get back once he confirmed the incident.
