Students react as Delta VC threatens to shut down Oleh Campus over disagreement on fees increment

Students of Delta State University, Oleh campus have reacted to a threat by the school’s Vice chancellor, Prof. Andy Ogochukwu Egwunyengato close down the campus if they failed to comply with him in the school fees increment.

The vice Chancellor issued the threat while addressing the students at the Oleh campus on the new increment of fees.

Our source said the vice Chancellor issued the threat when students refused to snap picture with him after addressing them.

The VC stated in a leaked short video: “You can not tell me anything about unionism, all my days in secondary school and 5years in the university I was part of students unionism. If you make conditions impossible, I will close down this place and nothing will happen.

“However, the position of the VC had received wide condemnation, as the statement was described as a show of naked power and lacking maturity.

In a leaked audio conversation between the VC and the provost of school Oleh campus showed disagreement of the provost over the action of the VC.

The school provost condemned the action of the VC, urging the VC to borrow a leaf from other universities in the country.

Another student popularly referred as Joshkvngs also reacted to a Facebook post by the VC: “@ogoandy sir, are you listening to yourself sir,…so we won’t go to classes. The truth be just say you be wicked man,no doubt. Can you tell ur child to do this things”

A commentator name withheld said: “The VC threatening the students with closure of the campus while main campus keep running, a thing Isoko people will not allow him to do. He does not have the authority to do so when the students have done nothing wrong except that they maturely expressed displeasure over the unwarranted increase in fees by refusing to take photograph with him. He considered that action as being rude. That led to the ranting. The VC has not demonstrated maturity or leadership but naked power.”
