Suspected armed robbers have killed a police inspector and sergeant in Mkpanpu Village in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.

It was learnt the incident happened on Thursday at 11 am at Mkpanpu Village in the Council headquarters.

The deceased policemen were reportedly guarding a mechanic workshop of a private transport firm, Royal Mass in Enugu when the gunmen attacked.

According to Sahara Reporters, “the hoodlums came around 11 am, shot them and collected their guns.

“Initially, people thought the incident happened at the loading part of the transport firm but local security operatives that visited the scene of the incident told us that it happened at the workshop located at Mkpanpu Village and that policemen were an Inspector and a sergeant.

“I don’t know how the police authority will post policemen to a private workshop,” the source said.

However, efforts to reach the state police command’s spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe proved abortive as his mobile phone was switched off at the time of filing this report.
