Suspected ritualist arrested for attempting to behead girlfriend in Bayelsa

Bayelsa State police command has arrested an alleged ritualist after a failed attempt to behead his girlfriend in Ogobiri community, Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The suspect was apprehended by the community youths in collaboration with men of the Operation Doo-Akpo after tying the legs and hands of the victim in a remote area.

It learnt the ritualist was trailed to Setraco road along Ogobiri-Toruebeni drive by youths of the community following a tip-off.

The source said the victim, a girlfriend of the ritualist was a student of the Niger Delta University (NDU), Amassoma.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa State Police Command, SP Asinim Butswat who confirmed the incident, identified the suspect as Sunday Favour from Edo State.

The police further narrated: “The suspect lured his victim one Deborah Emafridom ‘f’, a student of Niger Delta University Wilberforce Island, Amassoma, to a nearby bush tied her hands and was about to knife her throat when he was apprehended by the vigilante members and Police Operatives.

He succeeded in tying her hands and legs, he was in the process of beheading her before he was apprehended by youths of the community in collaboration with men of the Operation Doo-Akpo.

According to a Facebook post by Ebis Okpeke, the victim, a girlfriend of the ritualist is a student of the Niger Delta University (NDU), Amassoma.

The ritualist ran out of luck when he was traced to Setraco road along Ogobiri-Toruebeni drive by youths of the community following his suspicious movements.
