Tears as Delta Varsity Lecturer Benike buried at his home town

The late Delta State University lecturer, Dr Benike Joseph has been laid to final rest at his home town, Obotebe community in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta state on Saturday.

The funeral rites were graced by highly profiled dignitaries, including Rt. Hon. Julius Pondi, member representing Burutu federal constituency, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, senior political adviser to the governor of Delta state, Prince Emmanuel Amgbaduba, the Honourable commissioner of oil and gas, Hon. Dan Yingi, former Burutu North assembly member, Rt. Hon. Godknows Angele, chairman of Burutu Local Government Council, Hon. Julius Takeme, Delta South PDP chairman, Amb. Shedrack Agediga, ED PRS, DESOPADEC, and Hon. Ebikeme Clark, former chairman of Burutu Local Government Council.

Others are Hon. Godwin Edumogiren, SA to the governor of Delta state, Hon. Paul Kurugbe, 2nd member, SUBEB, Richard Tuedon, director of PDP ward 7 campaign, Mr Eunice Braduce Angozi, 2nd member post-primary school board, Delta state, Mrs Georgina Evah, EA to Governor Okowa, Ekanpou Enewaridideke, SA to the governor of Delta state, Hon. Kofee Amasuomo, SSA to the governor on trade and investment, Comrade Ozobo Austin, SA political to the Delta State governor, Barr Oweilami Pereotu, former IYC president, Barr Alaowei Cleric, SA to the governor on political matters, Mr Albert Edumogiren, SA to the governor on political matters, councillors, Mr Emma Akpule, Deputy media Director Burutu LGA PDP campaign and many others too numerous to mention.

It would be recalled that the Delta State varsity lecturer died on March 8, 2023, following a ghastly auto crash on February 20, 2023, along the Kwale-Asaba road which threw him into a coma in a hospital bed for three weeks.

He also doubled as the Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta state, senator Ifeanyi Okowa before his demise.

However, Benike died at the age of 51 years and was survived by his wife, Mrs Esther Peremoboere Benike and two elder siblings.

Congress learnt that the doctors conducted a successful brain surgery on him at a specialist hospital in Asaba, the state capital following the fatal crash which had a severe impact on his head.
