THE SAD TALE OF BEING A SURVIVOR OF A FATAL ACCIDENT: THE CASE OF AWIKI EBISINE

According to John Donne: “Man’s Death diminishes me why because I am involved in mankind.” The agonies of man caused by his condition is worth weeping for and consoling through an interventionist mechanism to rescue or raise the consciousness of others to look into the direction they might have not considered.

In my deep tributes to those who died in the ghastly motor accident of Barrister Smooth’s Musical organization on their way to perform in Abuja, I as well appreciated humanity for placating Chief Smooth with words of wisdom, so that sadness will elude his face to face the living now that the death has been buried. It was a Nightfall thicker than the actual night of human rest and sleep, but what about the living Victim Awiki EBISINE. Who has said anything about him for being alive, thank God, then in death, let your will be done, “eyemeokumooo”

Yes none of us are praying to die, but all will climb the tree of death someday, praise be to the death! Let us woo the living and ignore him, so that when he does, we can sing his dirge and dance to the Ballard and bury the death with millions while the living weep in penury, hunger as an accident victim made handicapped. God forbid! Everybody must not die at once, some will live to tell the story. EBISINE Awiki is internally weeping without tears coming from his eyes and Ijaw Nation is just after the death while the living storyteller is in agony. Is Chief Smooth not aware?

What about the numberless condolences. Who has not asked about the condition of the Musician who survived the accident?

The day Chief Barrister Smooth’s Musical organization band had an accident on the 11th of July 2023, the whole Izon-Ibe was socked with tears as the bloodbath of the accident took the lives of five Ijaw Musical Icons– all cried and wrote–“May their souls rest in peace!” But EBISINE Awiki, like a cat of nine lives, survived the accident but the current suffering imposed by all of us who were crying for their death made huge contributions to a successful burial of the dead. Yes, the dead being given honour is the usual traditional rite among the Ijaw people globally, but how many persons in the flung of untimely death consoled Barrister Smooth in that period of bereavement could ask of the EBISINE Awiki–the Survivor who is alive to tell the story?

How many dignitaries who went to see the paddle of Niger Delta could remember to make passionate survival gifts to Ebis to take good care of himself? Yes, EBISINE Awiki too would have just died as a payoff for a befitting burial, God forbid again!

Yes the day I visited EBISINE Awiki, I cried and almost told him to just die to be given a state burial because he would not have the needed money to take care of himself, yes his music philosophical poverty increases in pain of neglect! EBISINE Awiki, why didn’t you die so that Izon-Ibe could celebrate the death and make a promise unfulfilled to your family so that Talking Drum of the Niger Delta region in GbaramatuVoice could accompany others to cry your cry! It is so unfortunate that you are just in this condition. The day you had this accident, that was same day we also had a fatal accident on our royal tour in Egbema kingdom, our Motor summersaulted, let Egbesu be praised we came out unstained, Agadagba has spoken. Who could help Awiki from the trauma of an accident victim and the hunger of accident victims on how to survive?

They came in convoys;
a hand full of Naira and Dollars to bury the dead, while the survivor lives in a one-room apartment with his wife lamenting and thanking God in heaven. Yes, monies are coming to bury the dead but no money for Awiki to eat and take paracetamol.

I know many critics are going to accuse me of interfering in a cry that doesn’t concern me or probably blackmail, if this ill story of tears of the living survivor of the 11th of July 2023 of Smooth Musical organization members’ fatalities is not heard. As the survivor-Ebis then, I would have failed as a Journalist in my long episodes of shaping a better world on my daily writings as a watchdog of human society. If it is just a fabricated story of tears, let the Ijaw Nation make Awiki their responsibility.

In as much as I am guilty in writing this story, there could be blame, others could also see reasons in my pen, and some will deeply agree with me without words that among us who have visited Chief Barrister Smooth’s organization have not actually asked of the man who survived and that he also needs our assistance.

Yes, I must salute the Ebenanaowei of Ogulagha kingdom, Agbonu, HRM. Capt. Elder Joseph I.Timiyan who quickly gave an undisclosed amount of money to EBISINE Awiki to take care of himself the day he came from Abuja and few others who remembered that two people survived–Awiki and the dancing Queen by making financial commitment to them.

If you doubt the sensibilities of my tears, visit EBISINE Awiki or a passionate donation to his account as he goes through local treatment of his body alongside the hospital and massaging.

I have a big story to continue as I am still mourning those who passed on to glory untimely.

Dear Chief Barrister Smooth, again accept my deepest condolences as you have finally laid the death to rest. You have tried, Ijaw Nation thank you; Chief Promise Lawuru, God bless you, High Chief Ajube Bibopere, you are a man among men; a friend turned in-law, you have proven to humanity as one of the greatest in-laws to Chief Barrister Smooth. The kindness of Ijaw people cannot be overemphasized, Ado!

Where is EBISINE Awiki? I asked Ijaw Nation. Who has visited him and knows where he lives now?

Chief Barrister Smooth is an iconic philosopher who has used music for transformational agenda in the Niger Delta struggle as he puts it musically.

“Do for me, na wetin I go chop na him go follow me go to, broda do for me when I am alive.” Izon-Ibe, EBISINE Awiki is alive!

Donate to the living Victim so he could live to tell the musical story who hails from Enekorogha in Burutu LGA and Akugbene community in Bomadi LGA, both in Delta state.

“The Tale of Honour to the Death and the Pains of Suffering of the Living.”
