High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, has appealed to Nigerians to cancel the planned nationwide protest scheduled for August 1-10, 2024. He believed that President Tinubu is making efforts to address economic hardship and that the protest’s timing could harm the nation.

Tompolo, who doubled as the Ibe-Ebidouwei of Ijaw Nation, acknowledged citizens’ right to protest but noted that economic challenges predate the Tinubu administration. He highlighted the administration’s efforts to revamp the economy and address security concerns.

Citing security reports, Tompolo warned that the protest might be hijacked by individuals with ulterior motives, causing harm. He joined other patriotic Nigerians in appealing to protesters to engage with the government to find lasting solutions.

Tompolo noted that the threat of protest had already achieved its aim, as President Tinubu has acknowledged the voice of prospective protesters. His appeal follows similar concerns expressed by the National Security Adviser, governors, and top traditional rulers.
