No fewer than eight school staff have been shot dead in northern Pakistan in the early hours of Thursday 4th May, 2023.

Congress gathered that unknown gunmen attacked a school in Pakistan’s northern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday which left eight school staff dead and two others sustained serious bullet injuries.

The source said the attack took place after an examination at a local high school in northern Pakistan.

According to a district police officer Muhammad Imran, who was at the scene of the crime, disclosed to newsmen in a telephone conversation, the casualties at the incident include five school teachers and three members of the school support staff, adding the dead and injured were all men.

The police confirmed that the incident took place on Thursday afternoon and presently an investigation is ongoing to fish out the killers.

Imran maintained that the police suspect a sectarian angle to the attack because all those attacked were members of the Shia branch of Islam in northern Pakistan.

He averred that the region where the attack took place is known for conflict over the years between the two Islamic groups called Sunni and Shia sects of Islam.

Pakistans’s President Dr Arif Alvi frowned and strongly condemned the killings.

However, there has been no claim of responsibility for the attack by any of the Islamic groups at the time of filling this report but the president of Pakistan, Dr Alrif Alvi and the security authority in the country had vowed to fish out the perpetrators of the evil act.

The Pakistan police authority had sent a warning to citizens to be more security conscious and report any suspected criminal to the police or any security agent without delay.
