Tragedy as Pipeline explosion kills many in Rivers

Several persons have been feared dead after a pipeline tapping point exploded into huge flames in Rumuekpe community, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The source said the explosion occurred at a crude oil tapping point in the Rivers State community, in the early hours of Friday.

According to the source, the explosion was allegedly caused by sparks from a car battery head packed at the point.

However, the heavy explosion killed several persons and injured many others. However, the details of the incident are still sketchy at press time.
