Troops Uncover Illegal Oil Bunkers’ Camp In Imo, Delta

As the war against oil theft and crackdown on saboteurs of the oil sector in Southern Nigeria continues, the men of the Nigerian army have uncovered oil bunkers in Imo and Delta states.
This is according to a statement by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Army Spokesperson.
He stated that troops of 343 Artillery Regiment conducting anti-oil theft operations on Monday 28, August 2023, cracked down oil thieves’ camp in the Obokifia community in Imo State
He maintained that the troops were able to intercept 15 sacks and 13 Jerry cans of illegally refined Gas oil
The troops also recovered two pumping machines, three generators, one hose and a toolbox used for hacking the oil pipeline.
Onyema asserted that in a similar operation, troops of 3 battalions clamped down on an active illegal oil refining site, which contained three cooking ovens and six reservoirs at Enekoragha community, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.
The Army Spokesperson stated that the troops intercepted a wooden boat loaded with 110 sacks of illegal refined Oil concealed in the creeks of Egbema West in Ohaji Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State.
It was also stated that the troops intercepted two vehicles loaded with 18 sacks of illegal oil within the same area.
However, the Army urged the general public to report any suspected act of sabotage to security operatives to enhance ongoing operations to curb e economic sabotage in the country.
