Tension is brewing in Rivers state, following the move to resume oil exploration in Ogoni land.

It was learnt Ogoni stakeholders have met with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and unanimously agreed that the Governor should lead a multi-consultative forum to discuss with the Federal Government on the planned resumption of oil production in OML 11.

Former president of the Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People (MOSOP),Mr. Ledum Mitee, who briefed journalists shortly after a closed-door meeting with the governor, said the governor was chosen by the stakeholders to prevent those who may want to adopt divide and rule tactics to cause crisis in Ogoni.

Congress gathered that the planned resumption of oil production in OML 11 in Ogoniland was sequel to the meeting of some Ogoni leaders with President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential Villa two weeks ago in Abuja.
