Woman Arrested for Allegedly Stealing Two Babies to Conceal False Twin Birth Claim in Delta

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a woman accused of stealing two infants after allegedly fabricating a story that she had given birth to twins.

According to information made available by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe, the suspect reportedly claimed she had delivered twins but later told family members and associates that the babies died a few weeks before their planned dedication ceremony.

Police investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly resorted to abducting two babies from vulnerable mothers in an attempt to sustain the false narrative and avoid the embarrassment associated with the exposure of her claim.

The suspect was eventually apprehended by police operatives after she allegedly organized and conducted a dedication ceremony for the stolen children.

Authorities said preliminary investigations uncovered the circumstances surrounding the alleged abduction and led to the recovery of the infants. Efforts are ongoing to conclude investigations and ensure that justice is served.

The Delta State Police Command used the incident to caution parents and guardians to remain vigilant and closely monitor their children, especially infants, to prevent them from becoming victims of child theft and related crimes.

Police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, emphasized the importance of parental vigilance, noting that vulnerable children can easily become targets for criminal elements if adequate care and supervision are not maintained.

The Command reiterated its commitment to protecting children and prosecuting individuals involved in child trafficking, abduction, and other crimes against minors. Investigations into the case are ongoing.
