The stage is set for two thrilling semi-final encounters at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with France, Spain, England and defending champions Argentina securing places in the tournament’s final four after impressive quarter-final victories.

France became the first nation to reach the semi-finals with a commanding 2-0 victory over Morocco. Goals from Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé ended Morocco’s remarkable campaign and booked Les Bleus a place in the last four.

Spain joined them after edging Belgium 2-1 in a fiercely contested encounter, sealing victory with a late winner to set up a blockbuster semi-final showdown against France.

England also progressed after a dramatic 2-1 extra-time victory over Norway. Midfielder Jude Bellingham emerged as the hero with a brace, sending the Three Lions into their first FIFA World Cup semi-final since 2018.

Defending champions Argentina completed the semi-final lineup with a 3-1 extra-time win over Switzerland. Alexis Mac Allister opened the scoring before Julián Álvarez and Lautaro Martínez struck in extra time to secure the victory. Captain Lionel Messi also etched his name further into World Cup history by registering his 10th career World Cup assist—the highest by any player in the tournament’s history.
