Yari: 250 Islamic Schools Pray for Campaign Success

More than 5,000 students from over 250 Islamic schools across Zamfara State have participated in Qur’anic recitation and special prayers for the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid and the political assignment of Senator Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari.

The programme was organised by the United Youth Scholars for Preaching and Guidance in Zamfara State, with Islamic scholars from the 14 local government areas of the state participating in the gathering.

Speaking during the programme, the state chairman of the association, Malam Nasiru Buda, said the initiative was organised to seek divine intervention for peace and stability in Zamfara, as well as success for Tinubu and Yari.

Buda said more than 250 Islamiyyah schools were mobilised for the Qur’anic recitation and special prayers, adding that the association had maintained the tradition of organising such religious programmes every two months.

“We invited Islamic scholars across the 14 local government areas and more than 250 Islamiyyah schools to pray for success.

“We did not initiate this forum now. It has been our long-standing tradition to conduct this kind of Islamic activity, seeking God’s intervention, which we usually do every two months,” he said.

According to him, the group decided to intensify its prayers and support for the Tinubu administration following the appointment of Senator Yari as Director-General of the Tinubu/Shettima 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.

Buda said the association had set aside its previous grievances and resolved to work for the success of the campaign council.

He added that Yari’s longstanding relationship with Islamic organisations and scholars across Nigeria, as well as his philanthropic activities, had contributed to the support he enjoys among religious communities.

“We had our grievances before, but following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appointment of Senator Yari as Director-General of the campaign, we have decided to put them aside and unite for the success of the movement.

“We want our members to continue praying in their schools for the success of Abdul’aziz Yari and the campaign council,” Buda said.

He also commended the member representing Maru/Bungudu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdulmalik Zubairu Zannah, for his contribution towards the success of the gathering.

Also speaking, the association’s vice chairman, Malam Hadi Aminu, said the Qur’anic recitation was organised to pray for peaceful coexistence in Zamfara and the success of President Tinubu’s second-term bid.

Aminu urged Governor Dauda Lawal to appoint Zannah as the head of the state campaign team, saying the group was confident in Yari’s ability to deliver victory for Tinubu.

“We have confidence in Senator Yari and we are confident that he will deliver,” he said.

About 10 Islamic scholars were also given the opportunity to lead special prayers for the success of Yari in his new political assignment.

A former state Director of Tajweed, Malam Hadi Suleiman, praised Yari for what he described as his contributions to Qur’anic education, reciters and the less privileged.

Suleiman said Yari had distinguished himself through various philanthropic activities, including support for Qur’anic competitions and pilgrims.

“Yari was the first, in history, to give out 70 cars and 70 Hajj seats to winners of Qur’anic competitions, apart from feeding orphans and supporting the less privileged,” he said.

Responding, Senator Yari, who was represented at the event by Hon. Aminu Adamu Dankwangila, commended the United Youth Scholars for Preaching and Guidance for organising the Qur’anic recitation and special prayers.

He urged the scholars and students to sustain their prayers for peace in Zamfara and Nigeria and for the success of the Tinubu/Shettima 2027 campaign council.
