By Micheal Chukwuebuka
The Yobe State Government has restated its commitment to support the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, (RMAFC), team in conducting the 2026 National Data Verification Exercise in the state.
The Yobe State Commissioner for Health and Human Services Dr. Muhammad Lawan Gana, gave this assurance while briefing the RMAFC delegation on behalf of the Yobe State Government at the Office of the Secretary to the State Government conference hall in Damaturu.
Dr. Gana explained that the exercise is aimed at verifying data submitted by the state and local government councils on government-funded public primary and secondary schools, including technical, vocational, and special schools. Other areas of focus, he added, include public health facilities such as the number of hospital beds and incubators, as well as the internally generated revenue of both the state and local governments for the period from January 2021 to December 2025
The leader of the delegation and Federal Commissioner representing Sokoto State, Alhaji Abubakar Wamakko, stated that the exercise was in line with the Commission’s constitutional mandate under Paragraph 32 of the Third Schedule to the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as (Amended). The provision empowers the Commission to continuously review the revenue allocation formula to reflect changing realities
Also the Federal Commissioner representing Yobe State in the Commission, Alhaji Modu Aji Juluri, assured stakeholders that accurate and verifiable data would be provided throughout the exercise. He added that this would help improve the lives of the citizens of Yobe State.
