Zamfara: Police Arrest 21 Reckless Riders, Recover 20 Motorcycles

The Zamfara State Police Command has intensified its efforts to address public complaints and maintain law and order across the state.

A statement by the police spokesperson DSP Yazid Abubakar said, the persistent complaints from residents of Birnin Ruwa, Tullukawa, and Yar Gada communities in Gusau metropolitan over the activities of groups of youths popularly known as “Arlet Boys,” who engage in reckless motorcycle riding and other acts capable of causing public disturbance and led to lost of lives on several occasions.

The Command launched a targeted operation to restore sanity in the affected areas.

DSP Yazid also said, a team of police operatives conducted coordinated raids on identified criminal hideouts and black spots within Birnin Ruwa, Tullukawa, and Yar Gada areas all in Gusau LGA.

“Twenty-one (21) suspects were arrested, while twenty (20) motorcycles were recovered. DSP Yazid said.

The police spokesperson further said, the arrested suspects will be subjected to thorough screening and investigation.

“Those found culpable will be charged in court accordingly. DSP Yazid said.

The Command also assure members of the public that the ongoing operation will be sustained to rid the affected communities of criminal elements and ensure the safety of lives and property.

They also called on the residents to continue supporting the Police with timely and credible information to enhance crime prevention and public safety.
