According to the deceased families, the alleged death was planned and executed by the monarch and others in the community on 2nd May, 2023.

The Ogbosain and Perezide families of Okpokunou, Obotebe and Ekeremor towns in Ekeremor and Burutu Local Government Areas of Bayelsa and Delta States respectively today petitioned the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass saying, the murder of their twenty three year old son, Daniel Chukwuemeka Ogbosain was allegedly planned and executed by the Pere of Seimbiri Kingdom,HRM. King Pere Charles Ayemi-Botu and his foot soldiers.

The families disclosed this in a petition signed by Mr. Akpos. A. Godspower and Moses Okpako Ogbosain as well as Diare Samuel Perezide.

Their petition, written by a legal practitioner, Israel.O. Nwokeiwu Esq and his legal team comprising B.F. Mabiko Esq and C.F. Famateigha Esq respectively.

The families expressed sadness and shock over the “sudden” and “untimely” death of their son who was gruesomely murdered in cold blood on the alleged order of the paramount ruler of Seimbiri Kingdom and the Executive Chairman of Okpokunou Urban Community.

The families said the suspects poured Premium Motor Spirit also known as petrol on their son, tied his hands and legs together and started beat him
with all kinds of offensive weapons such as sticks, machete etc.

They said he died as a result of high degree of injury inflicted on him by the suspects.
The families said the incident threw the whole community into grief.
They said the incident occurred 2nd May 2023.

Narrating how the incident occurred, the families said their son was accosted by Mr. Tokekeme Egbouke(Community Chairman), Mr. Wilson Chamber(Vice Chairman), Mr. Prestar Kodokor(Secretar), Mr. John Okorodas (Youth President), Mr. Secretary Amgbara(Chairman’s Adviser), Mr. Apostle, Mr. Christian Ambai, Mr. Arekedoumene, Mr. Yenrin Complain, Mr. Prince Abrafa and Mr. Tenezibau Anthony on the allegations that he stole some community’s laboratory equipments.

According to the families,”But upon the deceased’s denial of the said allegation leveled against him, the said suspects constituted themselves into a court and
passed death sentence on the deceased for stealing the said property.”

The families added that,”And after delivering their verdict, the 2nd suspect,Mr. Tokekeme ordered the other suspects as mentioned in this paragraph to
descend on the deceased by way of executing their judgment on the issue
of stealing as alleged.

“That after pouring Premium Motor Spirit also known as petrol on the
deceased, they tied his hands and legs together and started beating him with all kinds of offensive weapons such as sticks, machete etc,of which as a result of high degree of injury inflicted on him by them,he died
afterwards.”

They noted that the deceased was quickly buried by the suspects the next day, May 3,2023 without consulting any of them(family members) to cover up their tracks as well as avoid being traced.

It said one of the suspects Mr. Tokekeme said to them that they killed and buried the deceased because he stole community’s properties boasting that as the chairman, he has the right to do so and nobody can do him anything including the Police or the Government.

They added that the said Egbouke allegedly threatened to send his “boys”to burn down the houses of any member of the deceased’s family who dares him on the issue surrounding the circumstances of the death as the community chairman he has the full backing and support of the 1st suspect to do what they did and that the 1st
suspect has assured them that he will use all his connection and contacts in the government to ensure that the matter will not see the light of the day.

The families said the suspect has been moving freely in the Community since their son was murdered.

The families said the actions of the suspect is already causing serious tension in the Community just as they warned that,”if nothing is done urgently to arrest the situation,it may lead to break down of law and order.”

“There is no doubt that the actions/inactions of the aforesaid suspects
amounted to jungle justice which is not accommodated in this twenty first
century.

“”Life is so precious to both God and man and as such,no man is
permitted by any law(no matter how highly placed heis)to take the life of
another. This is a crime against humanity and must not be treated with kid gloves.”

The families said they’re law abiding citizens of Nigeria and would not want to take laws into their hands.

They said they resolved to seek the urgent attention of the Commissioner of Police,CP Wale Abass in the matter.

They implored CP Abass to use his good office to take decisive action in the matter and direct/order the arrest of the suspects so that they face the wrath of the law as the Public and Okpokunou Urban Community citizenry particularly the Youths are also watching eagerly because of the intrigues that has come into the matter.

However, the police public relations officer DSP. Bright Edafe during a chat with this reporter confirmed that the police is conducting a thorough investigation into the murder case and urged the aggrieved parties to remain law abiding, saying that the perpetrators must be brought to book and be made to act as deterrent to others in the community.
