Two trucks carrying cows that were allegedly rustled by miscreants from Tsafe Local Government Area were stopped by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Zamfara State Command, en route to Damba Area, a Gusau metro suburb.

The State Commandant of the Corps, Sani Mustapha, told reporters at the State Command Headquarters in Gusau that the Corps had 24 cows and 1 sheep travelling from Tsafe to Gusau as a result of his tenacious efforts to rid the State of any criminal activity.

Mustapha said that the suspects who intended to sneak the cows into Gusau at night chose to dump them at Damba Area, a suburb of the city, at around seven o’clock at night.

“Working on intelligent reports, the Corps confronted the suspects and on sighting the officers, they took to their heels. The cows were conveyed with two canter trucks with number plate TSF 329 SA Zamfara and AG 160 BW Abuja, respectively,” he said.

The State Ministry for Security and Home Affairs has received the cows, according to the head of the State NSCDC.

But in the fight against insecurity in the state, Mustapha cautioned all criminal elements to refrain from doing anything that goes against Governor Lawal Dauda’s administration measures.

“You may recall that the State Government had banned the sale of cows in some local government areas including Tsafe Local Government Area where these cows were suspected to have been conveyed from,” he said
