The Governor of Delta State and Vice-Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) has said his administration had given a facelift to Burutu Local Government Area, in terms of infrastructure, compared to what it was in 2015.

The governor disclosed this while speaking at the PDP LGA Campaigns in Burutu, the headquarters of the Burutu Local Government Area of the state.

According to him, lots of internal roads had been done in Burutu’s main town, Sokebolo, Obotobo, Ogulagha, and other areas by his administration.

The vice presidential candidate stressed: “One thing I know that is not making some of you happy is the Ayakoromo bridge, we will complete it.

He reiterated, “The Delta State government some weeks ago revoked the contract of Ayakoromo bridge due to poor performance by the former contractor. We have re-awarded it to Setraco. By next week we will mobilise the new contractor to the site.

Okowa expressed gratitude to the people of Burutu for their consistent support of the PDP over the years, adding that Burutu had never disappointed the party any day.

“My dear people of Burutu Local Government Area, I thank you for all your support for our party candidates over the years. We still need this huge turnout during the next year’s general elections to give victory to all our candidates.

“However, we have also reciprocated your support by constructing concrete pavement for all internal roads in Burutu town; another 20.29-kilometer Obotobo 1– Obotobo 11– Sokebolou–Yokri road in Ogulagha Kingdom.

“We constructed a modern market and built schools in Burutu Town, Ogulagha, and other communities but unfortunately there is one project that you people are not happy about which is the Ayakoromo bridge.

“The contractor has not been doing well and we have recently terminated the contract and re-awarded it to Setraco Nigeria Ltd.

“Next week, we will mobilise them to start and they will finish it because it is a promise I made to you people and I must fulfill it,” he added

The governor who admonished the Burutu people to remain committed to the Atiku-Okowa ticket assured them that PDP would win the presidency and rescue Nigerians from the hardship caused by the poor APC-led administration.

“Our party has recognized one of your own, my humble self as Vice-Presidential candidate and by the grace of God, the Atiku-Okowa ticket will win the election in 2023.

“I appeal to you all to give us your support to enable us to turn out more votes for our party; we have done well campaigning in 15 states so far and we are very sure of victory for the party,” he retorted.

In the same vein, the Deputy Governor of the state, Barr Kingsley Otuaro, while addressing the people, maintained that the impressive turn-out of party faithful and supporters was an indication that Burutu over time, had been a PDP local government area.

Otuaro said the Okowa’s administration had done quite a lot for Burutu town in terms of road construction, appealing that Burutu people should vote for all PDP candidates in the next year’s general elections.

The Governorship Candidate of the party, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori Francis also appreciated the Ijaw people for supporting candidates of the PDP for the 2023 general elections.

He explained that Okowa’s administration had provided a lot of infrastructure for Burutu LGA, with 30 kilometre roads constructed and over 44 schools renovated and constructed.

However, Oborevwori, who was accompanied by his running mate, Chief Monday Onyeme, assured that his MORE Agenda would bring more advancements to the state.

On his part, Barr Kingsley Esiso, the State Chairman of the party, posited that Deltans were happy that the state for the first time is producing a Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, noting that the people of the state should work hard, towards realising the Atiku-Okowa presidency.

Also, Wing commander PY Biakpara chairman of Delta south PDP reconciliation and peace committee urged members of Burutu PDP to give all their support to the party’s candidate in the next year’s general elections.

Meanwhile, Dr. Braduce Angozi former commissioner for Agric, Delta state also appealed to the Burutu people to support all the PDP candidates from the presidential, governorship, and senatorial to the State assembly.

Chief Funkekeme Solomon who doubled as Director-General of the State Campaign Council, commended Governor Okowa for terminating the Ayakoromo bridge project and re-awarding it to a more competent contractor and for transferring the State School of Marine Technology from the Ministry of Transport to Higher Education for effective management.

According to him, the riverine communities in the state believe that an Atiku-Okowa Presidency would be very beneficial to them, hence they have decided to throw their weight behind them.
