24 passengers feared dead in boat accident in Niger

No fewer than 24 passengers have allegedly feared and an unconfirmed number of others are missing in a boat mishap that occurred in the Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State.

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon.

The council chairman, Jibrim Muregi, when contacted, confirmed the accident, adding that the actual number of travellers cannot be ascertained at the moment.

He further revealed that the 24 bodies of the passengers hailed from various communities of Gbajibo, Ekwa and Yankeiade.

Muregi said that presently a rescue team is on ground to rescue and recover bodies.
