Six persons nab over DPO’s murder in Rivers

The Operatives of Rivers State Police Command has arrested six persons in connection to the killing of the late Divisional Police Officer in Ahoada Police Division, SP Bako Angbashim.

The suspects were arrested during an operation at Odumude community, Ahoada East Local Government Area, in a move to recover the body of the deceased DPO.

Congress learnt that the operation was led by state Commissioner of Police, Nwonyi Emeka, where a locally crafted pistol and various charms were recovered.

According to the command’s Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, the suspects and the confiscated items are currently in police custody.

Iringe-Koko stated that the suspects are undergoing interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Port Harcourt.

He said as a result of the development, residents of Odumude community had fled the area.

Following the incident, a new DPO, SP Zuokumor Richard, had been assigned to the Ahoada division.

The police spokesman said that the new Ahoada DPO was accompanied by half a unit of men from Mopol 48, one-third unit from Mopol 19, 56, and tactical teams.

The statement noted that SP Richard had been tasked with a thorough search of the area, apprehension of the culprits responsible for the DPO’s demise, recovery of his body, and location of any operational weapons used.
