Unease as an Ijaw Youth, Master Tari Emmanuel Kinkin was reportedly drowned and died in a Swimming Pool belonging to Wellington Hotel Limited, Effurun Delta State.

According to the family, the ugly incident took place on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 and he hailed from Opuama community Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State.

A family relative Mr. Fred Atejere who disclosed the incident to newsmen noted that master Kinkin died due to the negligence of the Pool attendants.

In a statement by the family, maintained that contrary to the argument of the hotel management, their son died in the pool before the corpse was rescued by the heartless hotel attendants.

The statement on Wednesday, March 13 reads, “This is to inform you all that our brother Godwin Kinkin just lost his son inside a swimming pool at Wellington hotel Effurun, Delta State”.

The family, however, insisted that the death of their son was caused by the negligence of the swimming pool attendants who left the pool site immediate after the deceased, Tare Kinkin register to swim in the facility.

According to the bereaved father, Mr. Godwin Kinkin, “My son was rushed to the Nigeria Navy Hospital lifeless, the doctor further confirmed that he was brought in dead”

It was gathered that Pastor Clifford Atijere who went to Ebrumede police station to report the incident was told at arrival that the hotel management had already reported the incident at the station.

“The Hotel management claimed that Tare Kinkin did not die in the swimming pool, even when a staff of the facility brought out a lifeless body from the swimming pool”, the family argued.

According to the maternal uncle Rev. Benson Ekpen he said the body had been deposited in the mortuary at the Navy hospital. The Delta State police public relations officer DSP Edafe Bright when contacted said the family should reach out to him through phone call.

The Hotel management, however, declined comment despite several attempts to have them speak on the incident. When our media team visited the Hotel on Thursday, March 14, 2024, a staff of the hotel, Chinwe O, said the manager was not on seat as at 11:33 am and text message forwarded to the manager was not responded.
