3 soldiers arrested over sale of ammunition to bandits

Following the relentless efforts by the army to clear bad eggs within the force, about three soldiers have been apprehended for selling arms and ammunition to terrorists and bandits in Zamfara State.

The military Intelligence said the arrest was a followed up investigations into a case of missing 425 rounds of ammunition at Forward Operations Base (FOB) in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, according to Vanguard report.

It was learnt the military swung into action and arrested one Private soldier Bala Nura, of the same FOB when it investigation showed that he was involved in selling arms and ammunition to bandits and terrorists.

The report added that the soldier confessed to selling of about 100 rounds of the 7.62mm special ammunition at the rate of N100,000.

The suspect Nura further revealed that he was making further effort to sell another 1,000 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition to bandits and terrorists at the rate of N1 million.

The accused soldier equally mentioned two other soldiers/colleagues, Lance Corporal Ehoda Monday and Lance Corporal Shehu Mohammed as collaborators.

Acccording to the report, the military was currently making more efforts to unravel other suspected collaborators and fifth columnists.
